How
to make your own icon!
Find your image and open it in a image editing program. If you dont have
one you can DL an evaluation version of paint shop pro 7 here.
I use adobe ImageReady to make my icons, but you can use any image animation
programs.
I
cropped the image to be size 50 pixels in width and 150 pixels in height,
then sliced it into 3 equal squares (50 pixels width and 50 pixels height
each). It's good to use the built in ruler to measure the width and height
or you can resize your image to the proper size. Standard buddy icon size
is 50 x 50 pixel and no more than 7 k btyes.
After
you sliced it you will get this (below), 3 equal (50x50 pixels) pictures.
Now save it and you will get 3 different files, pic1, pic2, and pic3.
Find and open pic1
Find
and open pic2, then use the select tool and select all of pic2 and use
the copy command to copy the image.
Click
back to pic1 and paste the copied pic2 into pic1. Do the same thing with
pic3, copy it and paste it to pic1.
Now
pic1 has 3 layers, they are pic1 as layer 1, pic 2 as layer 2 and pic3
as layer 3.
On
the animation screen, they are called frames. Below there are 4 frames,
each frame represent one sec of the animation.
Frame
1 shows layer1 for one sec. (note: the eye next to the layer represents
the selected layer for the frame.)
Frame
2 shows layer 2 for one sec. (note: the eye next to the layer represents
the selected layer for the frame.)
Frame
3 shows layer3 for one sec. (note: the eye next to the layer represents
the selected layer for the frame.)
Frame
4 shows the word "Hello" for one sec which i typed in. (note:
the eye next to the layer represents the selected layer for the frame.)
At the point you are almost finished.
Once you get everything the way you wanted. Now save it. Below is the
finished product.

Run AIM and click
the menus in the following sequence "My AIM>Edit Options>Edit prefrences"
then click the Buddy Icon tab.
Now have "my buddy icon" selected and click
Browse PC. Then select the buddy icon you just created to be your current
icon. As shown Below.
